Director, Office of Fiscal Management, Accounting and Supplies
Referring to:  Pollution Control Department official letter Tor Sor 0308/Wor 115, dated February 4, 2019
Attachment: Table on environmentally friendly supply of products and services as audited by the Pollution Control Department

Referring to the letter from the Pollution Control Department requesting an online report on supply purchases of 19 types of environmentally friendly and non-environmentally friendly products and services for the 2018 fiscal year, the Office of Fiscal Management, Accounting and Supplies has successfully submitted the report on behalf of the Office of the University via the Pollution Control Department website.

Attached is a table detailing itemized purchases of environmentally friendly and non-environmentally friendly products and services. Below is a summarized report:

1. Chulalongkorn University procured 19 types of products and services, which are based on the lists in the Pollution Control Department database:

  • 1.1 In the environmentally friendly category, there are two entries: toilet paper and clasp envelopes.
  • 1.2 In the non-environmentally friendly category, there are 17 entries: printing paper for copying or general printing purposes; document storage boxes; ink cartridges; cleaning services; photocopy machine rental service; hotel service; whiteboard markers; Cool Mode fabric products; correction fluids; vans and cars; wall paints; fluorescent lamps; LED lamps; photocopy machines; printers; primary batteries and paper folders.

From the above summary, it is apparent that most of the products and services could not be categorized as environmentally friendly for two reasons:

  • a) The data in the CU-ERP system could not identify the brand, model or other details of the products and services;
  • b) There is a great variety of products and services that have been procured but do not match with those brands, models and details as specified in the Pollution Control Department database.

2. From the total supply of products and services, the quantity of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions has been reduced by 839.193 kilograms of carbon dioxide (CO2), which can be categorized as:

  • 2.1 Photocopy paper: 179.520 kg
  • 2.2 Ink cartridges: 659.673 kg

For other products and services, zero value is recorded for the quantity of GHG emissions because each product’s emission impact is still being studied by the Pollution Control Department. Thus, there is not yet any system available to evaluate their GHG decrease.

We thank you for your kind attention to this matter.
