Chulalongkorn University’s Regarding university lifelong learning policy
Chulalongkorn University’s mission is to be a centre of academic learning and professional excellence. It strives to create internationally-recognised academic research and innovations, provide a sense of public responsibility and contribute to the nation’s cultural conservation.
Chulalongkorn University strives for sustainable development in line with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), through four means: Policy and Operations, Research and Innovation, Teaching and Learning and Outreach and Social Engagement. The university has set out the following Lifelong Learning Policy:
1. Lifelong Learning Mission Statement
“Chulalongkorn University is a centre of lifelong learning that supports opportunities for lifelong, continuous quality learning and self-development for its students, staff, alumni and the general public. It serves as a secure, important body of knowledge for communities, society and the nation amidst global change”.
Chulalongkorn University is strongly committed to provide all learners with an education based on diversity, equality and equity. It has no discrimination against any differences on birthplace, nationality, languages, genders, ages, disability, physical condition and health, personal status, economic and social condition, beliefs, religions and political views that are not opposed to the constitutional provisions.
2. Definition of Lifelong Learning
Lifelong learning in the Chulalongkorn University context includes dimensions of study management, training and development of individuals’ lives and careers in three areas:
- (1) Continuous learning and self-development throughout life (Lifelong Learning)
- (2) In-depth learning of content regarding all subjects in life using all methods and systems (Life-Wide Learning)
- (3) In-depth learning through experience, varied lifestyles, cultures and local wisdom (Life-Deep Learning)”
3. Chulalongkorn University Lifelong Learning Strategy
- (1) Set university policy and development plan supporting lifelong learning
- (2) Build and strengthen collaborative networks between the university and all sectors
- (3) Support research across the university
- (4) Build a university-wide teaching and learning management process and system conducive to the lifelong learning of learners
- (5) Create a university-wide administration system and mechanism that supports lifelong learning operations
- (6) Create a university-wide decision making system that supports lifelong learning
- (7) Develop learner service and support systems for lifelong learning
