Lifelong learning is an important concept that emphasizes the importance of continuous learning and growing throughout one’s life. It involves the voluntary and self-motivated pursuit of knowledge for personal or professional reasons, rather than just acquiring knowledge during a specific period of time, such as when obtaining a degree.
To promote lifelong learning, Chulalongkorn University and Skooldio Limited have launched “Degree Plus,” a comprehensive initiative that provides flexible, affordable, and high-quality learning opportunities for individuals who want to upskill or reskill in today’s rapidly changing world. The platform uses technology to deliver course materials and connect learners with instructors, making education more accessible and adaptable to the needs of a diverse range of learners. It is also connected to a Credit Bank, which ensures equal access to learning opportunities for all individuals. “Degree Plus” is designed to be a collaborative effort, bringing together students, professors, and experts in various fields to work on real-world projects and research.
“Degree Plus” gathers top professors from every university in one place to create a learning community that is academically rigorous and able to apply skills in the workplace. Students can access videos and learning materials at any time and practice exercises to apply their knowledge and track their progress. Many courses also offer live instruction with a teacher. Initially, the program will focus on short-term certificate programs that can be credited towards degree programs, but it will eventually expand to include self-paced online courses and workshops covering a variety of topics, including emerging subjects like blockchain, digital economy, and bioinformatics, as well as popular subjects.
In addition to expanding the reach of its Credit Bank system to all universities in the country, Chulalongkorn University has also announced the opening of the CUGS Academy, a Lifelong Learning Ecosystem that will provide learners with the opportunity to continue learning and growing throughout their lives. It offers a wide range of courses in diverse areas, including technology, business, mental health, and healthcare, all designed to give learners the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their personal and professional lives. In addition to the CUGS Academy, Chulalongkorn University is also working to expand the reach of its Credit Bank system to all universities in the country, with the goal of increasing access to high-quality education and creating more equitable learning opportunities for individuals. By offering flexible and affordable learning options through programs like “Degree Plus” and the CUGS Academy, and by ensuring equal access to these opportunities through the Credit Bank system, Chulalongkorn University is committed to promoting lifelong learning and helping individuals continue to grow and develop throughout their lives.
