“QUICK MBA From Home, Integrated Life Long Learning Platform Prototype Served for COVID-19 Academic Problems”

The spread of Covid-19 in 2020 not only had effects on the economy worldwide, but also had effects on the education system. With classes being unable to take place as usual, higher education institutions had to adapt their curriculums so that learning could continue. Due to a “new to mankind” crisis, many marketing theories and knowledge were no longer effective.

Chulalongkorn Business School used this crisis as an opportunity to develop “Quick MBA from Home” as a Free Elective Course in the form of a Voluntary System, helping society without seeking profit. Within 7 days, Chula faculty and leading marketing experts around Thailand helped develop an AGILE curriculum. This has evolved Business Management education into new and relevant content, incorporating a mixture of widely used Online Open-Source Platforms such as Zoom, Google, Facebook Page, and Facebook Closed Groups.

“Quick MBA from Home” started on the 24th of April – 30th of August consisting of 14 episodes. The program was taught by Chulalongkorn University and professors from four top ranking universities in which includes Oxford University, Harvard University, Cambridge University, and Stanford University. Furthermore, successful Chula alumni that are CEOs as well as Upper-C Level from leading companies in Thailand also contributed to the program. This led to over 4,500 people registering for the course with over 450,000 viewers worldwide. The highlight of this course is the integration of knowledge onto online platforms: users were able to share opinions with each other, creating a relationship between teachers and students, as well as breaking down the barriers of learning in a normal classroom. Additionally, the program became a prototype for teaching system during a crisis, reducing the steps and costs of developing a curriculum by using simple technology to encourage life-long learning while increasing access to education for hundreds of thousands of people across the world.

The “Quick MBA from Home” curriculum has created a renewed value in education over the course of the pandemic. From developing a curriculum that was created within a 7-day period and at the lowest cost, to utilizing accessible platforms. The course has become a blueprint for further development of other curriculums. It created a strong relationship between alumni, top universities in the world, and students who partook in the course and created an Online Business Community. As a result, this has widely brought value to Chulalongkorn University and its brand.
