Shaping the Future of Mekong Regional Architecture: Reinforcing Transboundary Water Governance Through Reciprocity

Mekong sub-regional architecture is becoming more complex, reflecting increased geopolitical attention and expanding cooperation between Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, their neighbors and partners. Thirteen Mekong-related intergovernmental cooperation frameworks have been established since 1957.

Chulalongkorn University has been participating actively in sub-regional dialogues. This is a track 1.5 Mekong Policy Dialogue on evolving sub-regional architecture and the role of Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS), co-organized by Chulalongkorn University Center for Social Development Studies, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade-Australia (DFAT), and The Asia Foundation (TAF). The organizations collaborated to produce a policy brief for the future of Mekong regional architecture.

Collaborators:

  • Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade-Australia (DFAT)
