Chula Faculty of Engineering Partners with Learn Education to Improve Teachers’ Digital Literacy
Chulalongkorn’s Faculty of Engineering teams up with Learn Education, a social enterprise whose goal is to improve Thailand’s education through technology and innovation, to increase digital literacy among teachers through an e-learning system called TrainKru. The project will provide an online platform that allow teachers even in remote area a 24/7 access to learn software proficiency, algorithmic literacy, as well as today’s computer languages including Python.
The system developed by Learn Education will officially be launched at the end of March 2020. Participating teachers will be invited to follow-up workshops that ensure the efficiency of their interaction with the platform and improved knowledge as teachers.
Associate Professor Supot Teachavorasinskun, Ph.D, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn, said that the Faculty aims to make Thailand a leader in the global the digital revolution, the fourth industrial revolution.
Mr. Tanin Timtong, cofounder and CEO of Learn Education Co.,Ltd., said that the Institute of the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST) believed that there are more than 50,000 teachers who need to develop their digital literacy. The collaboration aims to help at least 10,000 teachers achieve that so they can effectively teach their students in the long run.
