Promoting Remote Work for Chulalongkorn University Employees for Sustainable Quality of Life

Currently, Chulalongkorn University promotes remote work or telecommuting as an option for employees, allowing them to work from any location outside the office. Remote work is one way to help reduce the daily expenses for employees and contribute to lowering carbon emissions, as employees no longer need to commute and have transitioned to conducting meetings via video conferencing.
The university has actively promoted and supported remote work for employees by announcing various policy guidelines and providing tools to facilitate remote working. These tools include computers, reliable internet connections, and various software applications for tasks, such as collaborative document software, online meeting software, and cloud systems for document sharing. Additionally, employees can install or use such software on their personal devices.

- Online, onsite and hybrid activities: seminars, meetings, instructions and other academic events can be organized either online, onsite or hybrid (online and onsite at the same time). To ensure that efficiency and effectiveness are not affected significantly, measurement metrics or methods should be cleary specified and communicated to stakeholders. - A decrease in on-campus working days of support staff: Each department is allow to tailor remote work schedules based on job functions and individual needs, rather than a fixed schedule. Staff may work from any location outside the office in some days of the week and work on campus for the rest of the week to reduce risks of the disease spread and infection. - A change in working time schedule and a number of working hours: staff of different departments has options, in contribution to employee well-being, to work on a different schedule if their work efficiency is not affected with reasonable working hours per week.
