Siam Square, located right in the heart of the city, is regarded as a teenage lifestyle centre in Bangkok. It provides food, health, beauty-care and education for young people. Yet, among this bustling teenage hangout, you can find the incredible “Park@Siam”, a peaceful sanctuary surrounded by nature. Situated on more than five rais in Soi Siam Square 64, this shady park serves as an essential green space for city communities, including those of Siam Square. Under the “Universal Design” concept, the park was designed on one level rather than several. It also has appropriate slopes accessible to all. These slopes especially benefit the elderly and handicapped, allowing them to exercise and relax at their convenience. Moreover, with regards to energy and resource reduction, the Brazil bean plant was chosen to cover the lawn instead of grass. This is because the Brazil bean requires less water and less frequent mowing.

Park @Siam is under the management of Office of Property Management, Chulalongkorn University, which received an empty plot of land next to Witayakitti Building. It was then developed into a green zone, following the standards set by the Promotion and Conservation of National Environmental Quality Act, B.E. 2535, Section 46 and 51. For utility purpose, Park @ Siam is divided into three zones:

  • Zone 1 is the front area close to Siam Square where the hard-surface space was built for organized events.
  • Zone 2 is the area in the middle of the park, useful for relaxing and arranging activities such as music performances, art shows and cultural exhibitions.
  • Zone 3 is the space for outdoor exercise, with a jogging track around the park, a small football field and exercise equipment for all.
