“myCourseVille is Chulalongkorn University’s unified, cloud-native, and AI-ready backbone for teaching, MOOCs, and lifelong learning—replacing fragmented, license-heavy systems while expanding equitable access to world-class resources. Developed in-house to meet Thai and regional needs, it integrates OBE/accreditation workflows, Thai-language delivery, and seamless live + recorded Zoom classes, ensuring continuity during pandemics, hazardous air quality, and other disruptions.
A five-pillar framework drives impact: (1) active-learning LMS with instant polls, curated media, and engagement analytics; (2) automated OBE mapping and accreditation evidence exports; (3) MOOC delivery at massive scale (5,000–50,000 learners per course); (4) blended-and-lifelong ecosystem spanning microlearning, credit banks, and e-commerce; (5) AI readiness with ChulaGENIE, CU’s LLM-powered learning assistant.
Results: 5.5M enrollments, 1.4M learner records, and 1.3M MOOC completions. A co-creation model channels student innovation while developing graduate talent. With its multi-tenant architecture, MCV is a replicable national and regional model for sustainable digital transformation in higher education.”
Solving CU’s Core Challenge with a Single, Resilient Platform
Chulalongkorn University replaced fragmented, license-heavy systems with myCourseVille, a unified digital backbone for formal teaching, CHULA MOOC and lifelong learning. Unlike commercial LMSs, MCV is built in-house to integrate OBE workflows, Thai-language accessibility and national credit bank interoperability. It ensures continuity during pandemics, hazardous air quality and other disruptions by supporting seamless live and recorded learning—Zoom classes can be created inside MCV with recordings auto-archived for catch-up and accreditation evidence.
Five-Pillar Framework: Effective Now, Ready for What’s Next
- Active Engagement – polls, media curation, activity tracking and classroom tools heighten interaction at scale.
- OBE & Accreditation – programme/spec mapping, evidence capture and exportable reports automate quality assurance and reduce manual workload.
- MOOC at Massive Scale – cloud-native delivery supports 5,000–50,000 learners per course with integrated streaming, asynchronous study and certification.
- Blended & Lifelong Ecosystem – one design spans hybrid classes, online libraries, microlearning, credit banks and e-commerce so learners progress across stages.
- AI-Ready Future – built as a platform, not a point solution; already piloting ChulaGENIE, CU’s LLM-powered assistant, to guide learners and triage queries.
Leading Practice Applied Across CU
MCV improves teaching and QA (OBE alignment, course evidence), management (workflows across terms and units) and knowledge transfer (public-facing CHULA MOOC). The same backbone powers CU Demonstration Schools, exposing younger learners to higher-ed tools and data-driven career guidance while avoiding duplicate systems.
Documented Efficiency and Outcomes
- Operational efficiency: automated OBE artifacts and reusable templates streamline reviews and term rollovers.
- Cost savings: one platform reduces reliance on multiple commercial licenses and support contracts.
- Learning outcomes at scale: MCV records 5.5M enrollments, 1.4M learner records and 1.3M MOOC completions. CHULA MOOC alone accounts for 2.6M enrollments, while CU’s General Education has engaged 170,000 enrollments from 70,000 learners—evidence of breadth and persistence.
Overcoming Barriers Through Co-Creation
MCV addresses cultural, financial and technical gaps that global LMSs overlook. Its student co-creation model—living labs, internships and team builds—ensures new features reflect real user needs while cultivating graduates skilled in software engineering, design thinking and teamwork.
Scalable, Replicable, Shareable
A cloud-native, multi-tenant architecture supports millions of learners and enables dedicated partner sites, positioning MCV as a candidate national or regional platform. Governance templates allow rapid setup while preserving institutional autonomy.
Conclusion
myCourseVille is more than an LMS: it is CU’s AI-ready digital backbone for teaching, accreditation and lifelong learning. With verified scale, efficiency, inclusivity and resilience, and with features like integrated Zoom delivery, Thai-language outreach and student co-creation, MCV offers a replicable model for sustainable digital transformation in higher education.
