Chulalongkorn University’s Sustainability Task Force

Chulalongkorn University places a strong emphasis on sustainability, embedding it as a central component of its strategic framework under the Impactful Growth Strategy. This strategy has been effectively communicated across various university departments and is designated as one of the university’s key Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).

To underscore its commitment, the university has assigned responsibility for sustainability advancement to a Vice President, supported by a dedicated team comprising Assistant Vice Presidents and professional staff. This team is tasked solely with overseeing and implementing sustainability initiatives across the university.

Currently, Chulalongkorn University has identified nine Strategic Goals that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as outlined here:

Chulalongkorn University’s Executive Order Assigning Responsibilities to the Vice President

To reinforce its sustainability governance, Chulalongkorn University has established the Sustainable Development Goals Policy Committee. This committee is responsible for setting policies, guidelines, measures, and strategic directions to ensure the effective implementation of sustainability programs across the institution. The committee also plays a central role in coordinating and driving sustainable development initiatives, ensuring their continuity, efficiency, and impact.

Members of the committee include key university executives such as Vice Presidents, Assistant Vice Presidents, senior academic administrators, faculty members, and support staff directly engaged in sustainability. The university also leverages contributions from its leading research units, including the Sustainable Environment Research Institute, Social Research Institute, Energy Research Institute, among others.
