Chula to Launch & Lead “APRU SDG Education for Global Citizenship”
The APRU SDG Education for Global Citizenship (APRU SDG4GC) is an intercultural, transdisciplinary, and interactive program that aims to foster global citizenship among students from 60 universities in 19 economies across the Pacific Rim.
As the initiator and chair of the APRU SDG4GC, Chulalongkorn University via the coordination of the Office of International Affairs and Global Network, leads this program—the first international SDGs certificate program run by Chulalongkorn University—together with The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Very importantly, the program is co-designed by four other core partner universities, namely, Kyushu University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Simon Fraser University, and Universiti Malaya.
Chula’s close partnership with the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Thailand enabled meaningful and firm collaboration with various UN agencies.
“As the UN, we know that strong partnerships are essential. We recognize that academic communities are playing a crucial role in implementation of SDGs and that young people are essential to solution building, policy making and sustainable change,” said Ms. Marisa Panyachiva, Partnership and Development Finance Officer, UN Resident Coordinator Office in Thailand.
She added “The SDGs belong to everyone, and the success will depend on partnerships and active engagement of everyone. We look forward to working closely with Chulalongkorn University and other university partners in making this program a success.”

“When the world is undergoing critical transitions that demand the resolution of interconnected challenges, universities, as key institutions of higher learning, have a clear responsibility to advance inclusive culture with respect for diversity. We welcome this responsibility by creating spaces for peoples and perspectives to be voiced and to be heard, sparking innovative learning for all,” said President Bundhit.
