Park @ Siam, Chula’s Public Urban Green Space

“Park @ Siam” is a public green space within the Siam Square commercial district, the only public park located in a famous commercial district of Bangkok. It is managed by the Property Management of Chulalongkorn University.

Park @ Siam is a famous urban green space well known among teenagers, youngsters, newer generations of office workers, and general urban dwellers. The Park provides convenient access and connects spaces with surrounding areas including the community. It serves as a space for recreation, exercise, and socializing for people in the surrounding and nearby communities. Its services are extended beyond Chula’s community to the outside public and private organizations who can request to utilize the spaces for holding their activities.

Given its central location and utility value, the park area inside Park @ Siam is often used for holding public exhibitions or activities free of charge, such as open exhibitions, music festivals, social activities, and campaigns by independent groups which promote information sharing with the public. For these reasons, Park @ Siam has helped provide a seamless connection between the commercial district and the university thereby narrowing the gulf between various groups in today’s multi-cultural society.

Park @ Siam comprises an open courtyard, lawn, and multi-purpose spaces of appropriate sizes with many large trees providing plentiful shade and resting areas. The atmosphere can be fun for outdoor activities done by members of the public, or serene at normal times. Moreover, it is popular with professional and amateur photographers, who like to practice their photographic techniques there.
